I'm Edmund Morgan, a traditional wooden boat builder from/based in Guernsey.

I originally trained as a joiner, and after years of working with timber I found myself drawn more and more towards wooden boats. Today I spend my time building, restoring and repairing traditional wooden boats.

As well as restoration work, I also build new boats. One of my recent projects was an 18-foot carvel-planked motor launch, built from scratch in the traditional way.

I've also restored Sport, a boat with an unusual history. She was found drifting off Port Grat during the First World War without her crew and later survived the bombing of St Peter Port in 1940 while returning from fishing. At the moment I'm restoring Fawn, built in Guernsey in 1883, and Driftwood, built in Sark in 1992.

Outside the workshop, I'm one of the founders of the Guernsey Historic Wooden Boat Association. We're trying to save as many of the island's remaining wooden boats as we can, while also researching the stories behind them. Too many have already disappeared, and once they're gone, they're gone.

One project I'd love to take on in the future is building a replica of one of the Guernsey mackerel drifters that used to fish from Rocquaine. It would be great to see one sailing again and giving people a chance to experience a bit of the island's maritime history.
